Fashion Favourites at the 2013 Oscars Red Carpet - The Return Of The Captain!

Hello!! It's been a while since I last blogged (more like a lifetime!) but I have decided to make my return and what better night than Oscars night. So without further ado, I have picked not 10, not 12, not 15, BUT 20 of my favourite dresses (in no particular order) from the red carpet. These are just my personal opinion and I would love to hear what you all thought so feel free to leave the names of your favourites.

1. Amanda Seyfried
Amanda always has such striking looks and she hasn't disappointed tonight. The detailed pattern means for little accessories.

2. Halle Berry
The symmetry of the stripes give Halle all her curves in the right places. Again, no need for much accessorising with so much sparkle on one dress. Dazzling!

3. Georgina Chapman
Such beautiful embellishment on the top of Georgina's gown. Her clutch is adorable.

4. Salma Hayek
Sassy Salma does it again! Her silhouette looks amazing and the gold trimmings make it oh so glamorous.

5. Sandra Bullock
Oh how very Downton. This 1920's style dress is so flattering on Sandra's slight frame. Something I'd definitely wear.

6. Kelly Ripa
I love how different this is to all the other red carpet dresses. It's a little bit more laid back to all the other looks but Kelly pulls it off perfectly.

7. Anne Hathaway
It may look pretty and simple from the front but the detail is all in the back. Since getting my hair all cut off, she's become somewhat of an icon of mine. She just can't seem to do any wrong, even when flashing her lady parts to the world.

8. Kelley Phleger
Actor Don Johnson's wife seems to steal some of his limelight in this elegant and slightly Kate Middleton's wedding dress-esque number. It fits her tiny frame like a dream.

9. Corinne Bishop
I adore the colour of this dress. Corinne wears it with such simplicity.

10. Adele
Adele brings her classic style to the Oscars. Her hair and make up just defines her signature 60's look.

11. Naomi Watts
Naomi's dress has a unique and slightly futuristic cut to it. The shimmery silver and pinned back hair really brings out her eyes.

12. Kerry Washington
Such a delicious colour and the little bow at the front makes this look even more sweet. The simple hair and lack of jewellery doesn't deter from the intricate detailing on the bust.

13. Zoe Saldana
The belt detailing is to die for. Everything is super cute; the shoes, the neckline, the way Zoe wears it with such a laid back ease.

14. Helena Bonham Carter
This looks like it was just made for Helena. The dark colour and layered skirt give it a witchy look but the sneaky little bow brings in a dash of girlishness.

15. Jane Fonda
Showing that at 75 years old, you're never too old to rock the neon's  Jane dazzles in this bright number. The square shoulders just ooze 80's nostalgia.

16. Jennifer Hudson
Jennifer looks fab and confident. This gown hugs her curves and I love the brilliant blue colour too.

17. Alicia Vikander
Another Downton inspired gown in a wonderful powder blue. The thin belt helps to break up the exquisite lace outfit.

18. Sally Field
Quite possibly my favourite look of the night. It can sometimes be hard to stand out in red on a red carpet but Sally does it with such elegance. This dress has a vintage Valentino air to it. I am in love!

19. Robin Roberts
Not only is blue my favourite colour to wear but I'm also a sucker for velvet, so double kudo's to Robin. The twisted neckline gives this classic look a modern spin. The drop waist is also extremely flattering.

20. Kristin Chenoweth
The last look of the night comes from Kristin Chenoweth. She may be tiny but she brought a big presence in this outstanding number. A dazzling smile to match the dazzling embellishment.

So that's it, my top 20. I hope you enjoyed reading this and if you don't agree with my picks, well everyone has different tastes but I'd love to hear what you thought. Feel free to leave a comment below and I'll reply as soon as possible. Thanks for reading!! Hope you all had a wonderful Oscars night, I've posted my highlight of the show below, Les Miserables gives me goosebumps every time.

The Oscars 2010 best dressed!!

So last night it was The Oscars and they were as glamorous as ever. I had a quick flick through the red carpet pictures and could see a lot of neutral colours with a sprinkle of glitter. I also noticed the long flowing skirts with trailing trains and flamboyant ruffles. So without further ado...I give you my top 12 (because I couldn't whittle it down to just 10). Please feel free to let me know what you think, I appreciate all feedback..Thanx =]

1) Anna Kendrick

This look I am not too sure about. It is a beautiful dress with delicate detailing around the slit on the leg, but the colour is much too light for Anna's pale skin tone. I think it would suit her much better in a darker colour.
2)Zoe Kravitz

Such a simple dress but the deep red velvet bow gives it a cute vintage feel. I love how Zoe has kept her look so simple and elegant by not wearing a necklace. She looks flawless!

3) Elizabeth Banks

The grey/blue colour of this dress really brings out Elizabeth's eyes and it fits her perfectly giving her curves in all the right places. The ruffled train reminds me of a frozen waterfall, just gorgeous!

4) Zoe Saldana

Zoe always wears something with a fun little twist and this violet faded number is no exception. She could just have gone for a plain faded dress but instead she has jazzed it up with little tiny ruffles that make it look light and fluffy, she's never afraid to take a risk and wear something different.
5) Carey Mulligan

Someone who I am always excited to see on the red carpet is Carey Mulligan. She always chooses something so unusual but exquisite. This dress has very antique look because if you take a closer look, there are tiny little pairs of scissors which I find quite endearing. Carey is just like a little doll and she is someone we should all watch out for in the fashion world!

6) Sandra Bullock

Firstly a massive congrats to Sandra who won the Best Actress award. She looks stunning and I love the contrast between the smooth gold and the authentic lace embellishment. Sandra finishes off this classic look with pink/red lipstick and her hair down and smooth, like a true Hollywood Star.

7) Kristen Stewart

Shock! Horror! Kristen is actually smiling...Rob must be doing something right, eh? I really love this dress on Kristen, her eyes look dazzling. The midnight blue colour against her pale tone is striking, and the curved pleats really hold her body and make her look voluptuous. We're so used to seeing her as more of a teenage rock chick so was charming to see her looking more like the beautiful woman she is becoming.

8) Robert Downey Jnr

Where do I start? Just look how cool and quirky Robert looks. He's wearing trainers to the Oscars!! Only RDJ would get away with that! He really stood out from all the other male species at the Oscars that night. Most of them were wearing black trousers, blazer and tie/Dickie bow...but not Robert. Hes wearing a custom pair of Oliver Peoples Sheldrake glasses, a matching blue Dickie bow tie and there is also a slight blue tinge to his suit. I think he looks super-hot and really comfortable.

9) Cameron Diaz

Cameron looks like a princess going to the ball. Not only was her dress sparkly, but her hair looks so healthy its sparkling too. This dress flows down her body divinely. She shows all the glitz and glamour of how the Oscars should be.

10) Amanda Seyfried

All eyes on Cinderella...sorry I mean Amanda! This is every girls dream dress - pure white colour, delicate material and the long, full swishy skirt that flourishes when she moves. Amanda looks so effortlessly alluring.

11) Miley Cyrus
Miley looks gorgeous here. The long, pleated flowing skirt is so girly but she gives it that rock chick feel with the tight corset top and dark nail varnish. The shimmer of glitter around her stomach/hips really helps to tie in the hard sculpted top with the soft cascading bottom.
12) Rachel McAdams

And the Charlotte Ellis award for best dressed at the Oscars goes to...Rachel!! I absolutely love this dress. She looks like she has wrapped herself with the sky, if that was even possible. This dress looks so delicate but Rach looks so strong and confident wearing it. Definitely something I would wear so top marks to her stylist!

Golden Globe 2010 Best Dressed on the Red Carpet

Here are a few of my favourite fashionista's from this years Golden Globes. These aren't in any order, I just wrote them down as I saw them. I'm sorry if you do not agree with my choices, it's just my opinion. Please feel free to tell me what you think =]

1)Lauren Graham

Purely because I love Gilmore Girls! Lauren looks so pretty in pink and this hot pink clashes with the royal red carpet, making her stand out even more from the crowd.

2)Livia Giuggioli

I think for once, all eyes were off the totally gorgeous Colin Firth, and were instead on his beautiful Italian producer wife. I love the delicate swirly pattern and the black ribbon and purse make a great contrast.

3)Dame Helen Mirren

At the ripe ole age of 64, Dame Helen proves you are never too old for that sexy black dress. The glittery detail adds that modern touch.

4) Jennifer Garner

Recently, it seems the only pictures we see of Dear Jen are of her playing Mum with her 2 daughters in pretty normal everyday clothing, so it was refreshing to see her all dolled up. Jennifer pulls off this asymmetric dress effortlessly. It has a sort of Greek feel to it - A Greek at a disco.

5)Zoe Saldana

This colour is so beautiful on Zoe and its good to see shes keeping with a piratey look with the raggedy bottom. The detail of the top of the dress is very cute.

6)Calista Flockhart

Here, Calista looks oh-so vintage in this 1920s inspired dress. It hangs beautifully on her petite build making her look taller. This is something I would definitely wear.

7)Sigourney Weaver

This forest green is immaculate on Sig. The wrapped effect show her curves well and the gold jewellery are a great touch.

8)Carey Mulligan

With her sweet innocent smile, its hard to believe Carey is 24. I really love this dress. The midnight blue colour really stands out on her pale skin tone and has a sort of Gothicy feel to it

9)Lea Michele

Keeping with the Gothic look is Glee's Lea Michele. I Love the contrast of the tough looking top and light fluffy bottom. Her emerald earrings add a dash of colour.

10) Sandra Bullock

Looking perfect in purple is one of my favourite actresses, Sandra Bullock. Its such a gorgeous colour and Sandra oozes confidence. The slightly see-through skirt gives it that sexy little flash of flesh.
